History

1862            October, laid down in Selma, Ala.
1863            February, launched and taken to Mobile for completion
1864            Feb 16, commissioned
                    May 17, attempt to raise blockade ended when ran around
                    August 5, battle of "Mobile Bay", disabled and captured.

                    Aug 19, commissioned as USS Tennessee
                    Aug 19 - 22, bombardement of Fort Morgan, Ala.  
                    Transferred to Mississippi Squadron, became district flagship
1865            Aug 19, decommissioned
1867            Nov 27, sold to breakers
