Aquarius S20 Passaic Class
History
Improved Minitor design, a class of 10 vessels:
Camanche (1865), Catskill (1863), Lehigh (1863), Montauk (1862), Nahant (1862),
Nantucket (1863), Passaic (1862), Patapsco (1863), Sangamon (1863), Weehawken
(1863)
These ships served mainly in and around Charleston, had colored bands on turrets and/or smokepipe.
Some engagements:
- Bombardement of Ft. Sumter, April 7, 1863, Passaic, Patapsco, Nahant, Montauk,
Weehawken, Nantuckct, Catskill.
- Engaged and captured CSS Atlanta, June 17, 1863, Weehawken, Nahant
