May 16 -17, 2008: Fourth USA East Coast  Meeting of 1:1250/1200 Ship Model Enthusiasts.

Where: The Maritime Industry Museum at Fort Schuyler, State University of New York Maritime College, Throgg's Neck, The Bronx, NY 10465.

Details: The Maritime Industry Museum is located on the campus of the State of New York Maritime College http://www.sunymaritime.edu/ and houses an extensive collection of large and miniature ship models and maritime objects within the massive walls of historic Fort Schuyler.  The large pentagon-shaped fort and adjoining college are situated on the picturesque Throgg's Neck peninsula, a beautiful and peaceful area of New York City.  The strategic peninsula lies at the entrance  to Long Island Sound, the East River, and northern section of NYC.

In addition to exchanging information among collectors, producers and dealers, the East Coast meeting also provides an excellent opportunity to enjoy the many  attractions NYC offers.  In previous meetings, participants visited the South Street Seaport (http://www.southstseaport.org/), observed "US Navy Fleet Week," and took boat trips around Manhattan Island.  Some made day trips to Mystic Seaport, the Groton Submarine Museum, and ships such as the USS OLYMPIA, USS NEW JERSEY,  USS MASSACHUSETTS.

We have made arrangements with the Maritime College for rooms in the new air-conditioned Cadet-Quarters, which are available because the cadets will be embarking on their annual summer semester cruise.  Each room contains two beds as well as bedding and towels, and costs only $65/day.  NYC hotels run about $180 - $300, should that be preferred.  The comfortable Maritime College lodgings are available from May 15 to 25.  Further information will be posted at www.steelnavy.com/1250home.htm, and on this website. The Meeting Committee will soon open a special website that shall contain registration forms for rooms, tables, banquet, etc.. For further information contact us at MSM1250@aol.com!
